Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this site so awesome ?

Because its creators are totally awesome.

Are the creators of this site modest ?

Yes, we are modest, and also extremely fantastic.

Are RSS Feeds (RSS feed icon) worth using?

RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. We use the free web based Google Reader.

Typically you subscribe to a feed by entering into the reader a feed's 'web address'. To be notified of all updates to this site simply enter "http://www.mercuryvision.com" into the subscription field of your feed reader.

If you register 'feeds' from multiple different web sites into your 'feed reader', then you need only visit your 'feed reader' to see if any of those web sites have something new - a big timer saver in our book!

Why is your site so fast ?

All our web pages have been individually hand-crafted (using XHTML, CSS and C++ CGI) by an extremely experienced development team. BTW, they will be even faster once we start tuning them!

Do your form web pages use Javascript for validation ?

Our research shows that 20% of users either do not have Javascript, or have it disabled for security reasons. Since all form input must be validated on the Web Server, we have chosen to keep our pages small, fast and efficient (hopefully) by not forcing you to download superfluous Javascript files.

By the way, you are probably a sad individual if you understood that.

What does UTC mean when it appears after dates ?

It stands for Coordinated Universal Time (abbreviated to UTC by the French !). It is similar to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). By using this the comment creation time entries are 'universally coordinated' (wtf).
